RYA Powerboat Level 2

This two-day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (ICC).

It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planning speed and collision regulations.

The course runs from 9am until 5pm on both days and we will meet in the Academy training room located next to the sailing office. Please bring suitable clothing for being on the water. The course is for those wanting to get involved in Club Powerboat duties.

Children must be over the age of 14 to complete their Powerboat Level 2 course

Sailing Committee have agreed that all participants (except Associate Members - see below) in Powerboat Level 2 and Safety Boat Courses must pay £100 deposit in addition to the £22 to cover the cost of the course book/s and certificate. Each duty would need to be signed off in your logbook by the OOD, Event Organiser or Youth Co-ordinator. After 8 duties the logbook to be shown to the Office who will organise the refund of the £100 deposit and provide the certificate.

Sailing Committee have agreed that for Associate Members that want to participate in Powerboat Level 2 and Safety Boat Courses must pay £200 deposit in addition to the £52 to cover the cost of the course book/s and certificate. Each duty would need to be signed off in your log book by the OOD, Event Organiser or Youth Co-ordinator. After 8 duties the logbook to be shown to the Office who will organise in the refund of the £200 deposit and provide the certificate.
