General Information
  • Please could all sailors be kitted up and have their tally band, their boats rigged, and be ready to meet up with your instructors for briefing at 6pm prompt. This early in the season it can be pretty cold out there so do dress warmly and don’t forget your hat and gloves! Most importantly, no buoyancy aid - no sailing!
  • If you are in ‘wet’ (i.e. sailing) gear please use the rear entrance of the Club which goes straight into the changing rooms, and please never go upstairs in wet gear.
  • The volunteers rota is posted on the notice board in the Club entrance before the session begins so please check in with Pam so she is aware that you have arrived, or if there is a gap in the list she is always very grateful for offers of help. The rota is sent out by email regularly so that you can plan ahead. If you are not receiving these emails please confirm your email address to Pam. If you are on the rota but know you cannot attend please try to arrange for someone to cover for you.
  • If you would like to help but are not sure what is required we could always arrange in advance for someone to ‘buddy’ you and show you the ropes!  Procedures for the key volunteer roles are available in the Youth section of the club website and on Wednesday evenings but most of the time we simply need willing helpers on the beach and slipway with wellies or waders.  'How to use the radio’ lessons are also available on Wednesday evenings.
  • Your children are your responsibility before and after training, but parents are also asked to stay on site during the evening so that you are available if your child comes in from the water early for some reason.
  • I am sure you will agree the improvements to the Changing Rooms have provided us with very pleasant facilities so let’s make an effort to keep them that way – this includes washing the sand and seaweed off your sailing boots and wetsuits before you go in! There is a tap outside the rear entrance for this purpose.
  • The bar is open from around 6pm and food is served from around 7pm.
  • For those of you who wish to let the kids sail at other times please note that the club RIBs are only available for class events and by prior appointment with the office.  There is a Rigiflex (‘Safety 12’) which can be used informally at a cost of £5/hour.
