Hi followers of the Cruising Wall.
We hope to fit in a couple of midweek talks during the summer and have a short narrative pencilled in for the Laying out Supper. More information to follow
The May Bank Holiday Rally to Weymouth was a resounding success with most of our 12 boats making it into a 4 day trip with two 5 day participants, and one delayed return. Some lack of wind for the majority who left Poole on Friday but 'Windrush' had a good sail on Saturday morning. Sunshine! It took a bit of getting used to but really appreciated.
Friday evening was Fish and Chip night, group takeaway meals on board for many and others choosing to eat at cafes. About 20 enjoyed a group meal at the renovated Ghurka buffet restaurant on Saturday evening after drinks and nibbles on the pontoon. As it was sunny we had more drinks and nibbles Sunday before a nice meal at the Stables restaurant.
The return trip involved fog from Weymouth to St Albyns with visibility down to quarter mile, enough boats with radar to cover any others without and I found it good to plot DR positions on a chart with pencil. Our return trip was capped by a school of dolphins off Old Harry.
